Jefferson County Homeless Youth Initiative
There are currently 154 homeless teenagers (that we know about) living in Jefferson County. Many of these young people "couch surf" - bouncing from home to home because they cannot live with their parent/guardian for many reasons. The Homeless Youth Initiative works through the local school districts to provide these young people with the resources they need to become self-sufficient, graduate high school, and even attend college. Grace Presbyterian Church has been partnering with the Homeless Youth Initiative since 2015. We help raise money through our Fall Festival, collect hygiene products for distribution to the teens, and give our portion of the annual Pentecost Offering to the organization. For more information click on the Jefferson County Homeless Youth Initiative. A brochure on the Homeless Youth Initiative can be found here. Watch the video below to learn about how Grace Presbyterian and the Homeless Youth Initiative are "helping teens today become proud adults tomorrow."

Mission: Drawn by the Spirit's call, we engage in tangible acts of service, as the hands and feet of Christ in our community." |

Brenden's Friday Backpacks: Many children across Jefferson County who are supplied free/reduced lunches during the school week, can go hungry over the weekend. Brenden's Friday Backpack program supplies them with a backpack of food for the weekend. Grace collects items for this local organization monthly. See their Facebook page for more information.

Vikings' Vault Food Pantry @ Jefferson College: For many college students, access to needed food can make the difference between finishing or quitting college. Grace helps support the Vikings' Vault Food Pantry through donations so that these young people can finish their education, get a better paying job, and help stop the cycle of hunger in our community.
